Loosely, “Jackie Loves Johnser OK?” based on the 1997 bestselling Irish novel
Chronology
Local rebellious teenager Clotaire falls in love with his schoolmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker, more destructive path. After years apart, the star-crossed lovers discover that every road they’ve traveled leads them back to each other. Neville Thompson, whose French title is "L'Amour Ouf" (literally ‘Phew Love’ and a pun on ‘L'Amour Fou’, literally ‘Crazy Love’), which is also the original title of this film. This film is mostly based on Priča sa zapadne strane (1961) and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet (1996), although the director never credited Luhrmann’s film as an inspiration, but several critics have noted similarities between the films.

two films.. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic in the 90s, but the watch was only released in 2016.. The first part with the children is very good. The film should have ended here for the sake of the audience.
The rest of the movie, the second act, is horrible
And Gilles Lellouche would have directed one of the best French teenage romances of the decade. Actors François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos lack chemistry, their performances in this film are bland and uncompromising. I suspect that both actors should start rethinking their own careers in French cinema after the two newcomers Mallory Wanecque and Malik Frikah outshine them and steal the show in this confused, mediocre film. At first glance, the film appears to be a modern take on The Count of Monte.
Stylized and tacky male gaze
Cristo .. I’m thinking of the old story of the offended young rebel guy who returns for revenge and seeks his beloved. However, it comes off as exaggerated and caricatured toxic masculinity. And in the middle and end of the second act, the plot loses credibility.
What we have already seen
The problem, on top of everything else, is the strange determination the film shows in its demand for originality in every shot, without ever once achieving it. Every time it comes to a decision, he always chooses the most formal, the most obvious. And so, it repeats, for three hours, the closest thing to a French blockbuster, with good marketing and PR behind it, is what French audiences will see this year.
