Chronology
The story of three young girls trying to pull themselves together while trapped in a sea cave filled with crashing waves, hundreds of sea lions, and monstrous elephant seals… Presented at the 9th Annual San Diego Film Awards (2023). As an adult, I had to keep reminding myself that this was fantasy. Filmed in La Jolla Shores, La Jolla Cove and Sea Caves, and Anacapa Island. What occasionally irritated me were things like a blue crab on the East Coast beach in La Jolla Shores or three girls sailing 100 miles to Anacapa Island. Parents in La Jolla Shores ignoring a surfboard with three little girls floating out to sea. But then I would remind myself that this was a family fantasy production, and then the scale of the undertaking would hit me. Book, story, movie, all produced and acted by one family, and I would marvel again.
